February School Vacation Week at the Hull Lifesaving Museum

Family Activity: Make a Paper Lighthouse Model

Tue. - Thu., Feb. 20-22, 2007
10 am-4 pm (ongoing throughout the day)

Activity is free with museum admission.
$5 adults, $3 seniors, free for children and members.

Come learn the wonderful true story of Abbie Burgess, Keeper of Matinicus Rock Lighthouse, Maine. In the winter of 1856, Abbie?s father went ashore for supplies, only to be trapped on the mainland for four weeks by a coastal storm. Abbie, then only seventeen, kept the lights burning despite knee-deep flooding and wild seas, all the while caring for her sick mother and her younger sisters. Families are invited to watch ?Keep the Lights Burning, Abbie,? browse our many lighthouse children?s books, check out the museum?s lighthouse models, and make their own Paper Lighthouse Models to take home.

For more information, please contact Victoria Stevens at 781-925-5433 or [email protected]. The museum is located in the historic 1889 Point Allerton U.S. Lifesaving Station at 1117 Nantasket Avenue, Hull, MA
