Group Visits

Information for Teachers and Chaperones
Thank you for agreeing to help supervise a group visit to the Hull Lifesaving Museum. Your participation makes a tremendous difference in the children’s experience at the museum. Let’s work together to ensure a safe, fun, and engaging visit for everyone involved!

Here are a few guidelines:

  • If your group includes more than 25 students please divide them into groups of 20 or fewer.
  • We request a minimum of 1 adult for every 10 children.
  • Weather permitting some activities may take place outdoors. Please dress comfortably and encourage the children to do the same.
  • Restrooms are located just inside the main entrance.
  • The guided tour is entirely on the first floor, which is fully wheelchair accessible. Please let us know if there is way we can help make the museum more accessible for your group (tactile tours, large type labels, and audio components can be arranged).
  • Please be aware that food and beverages are not available for purchase within walking distance of the museum, although groups are welcome to picnic on the museum lawn (or in the play loft in case of rain)
  • Ample free parking is available directly across from the museum.
  • Please be aware of fast moving traffic on Nantasket Avenue, and use the crosswalk as you lead your group to the museum.

Museum Dos for a great visit:

  • Please Do let us know if your group has a special need we can accommodate, or a special interest we can address. We are happy to tailor our tour to fit your program.
  • Please Do help us engage the children by participating in the activities, asking questions and sharing your interest and ideas.
  • Please D o remind children of the museum rules. Knowing chaperones are assisting with supervision allows guides to focus on leading the activity.
  • Please Do turn off cell phones and save conversations for after the tour.
  • Please Do ensure that all children stay with their group at all times. Children should not be unattended on museum grounds.
  • Please Do let us know if there is a way that we can make your trip more successful. We are here to help!
